Qazvin-Rasht Railway Opens Iran Rail Network to Russia

MRUD News—Qazvin-Rasht rail route will be opened on 6 March 2019 after 17 years and it will be an opportunity to connect Iran railway to Russia and complete North-South Transport Corridor.
This rail route is 164 km long in 8 parts with 7 stations and it has been built by 18500 b. IRR investments.
The construction of this project was started in 2002 and it aimed to connect Gilan Province to the national rail network. So people, industries, and factories will benefit from the rail network. Furthermore, it will improve transport network of Gilan Province, increase travel safety, economic and social situation of the Province, and help the tourism industry. Also the other goal was to complete an important of NSTC in Iran.
Qazvin-Rasht route starts from North-west Qazvin. In one way, this rail line will go to Anzali Port and from other way it will go Astara in Iran and then to Astara in Azerbaijan that once completed in Azerbaijan will reach to Russia. So construction of this rail route will be the begining to connect Iran rail to Russia.
Different tunnels and bridges have made this route one of the most beautiful scenery.
